The Koppers is a CQC-registered family-run residential care home specialising in the care of people with dementia. It is set in one of the most beautiful villages in East Devon. At The Koppers we are committed to providing quality care while maintaining respect for and the dignity of each individual resident. We create a warm and homely environment that is safe and secure. Each resident has their own careplan which is carefully tailored to meet their individual needs and continuously evolves as those needs change. We are also trained (and in the process of accreditation) in the gold standards framework for end of life care, which ensures that the physical and emotional needs of those approaching the end of their lives are understood and met so that they experience complete clam, peace, and comfort.

Mr Thomas was born in the UK but has lived abroad for much of his life and was educated at international schools and completed university studies in the USA which is where he met Mrs Thomas. In addition to working as a Management Consultant in London and Hong Kong, he spent ten years as Course Director and Senior Lecturer at Southbank University in London. He is also Managing Director of two Medical Device companies specialising in the prevention of pressure ulcers/injuries and the promotion of optimum skin integrity. Residents will be offered new skin protection protocols such as the Repose Range of pressure care products, Skin Protectas™ Dermis Plus Pads and Hip Protectas™

Dr Malik is a trained Medical Practitioner. He started his medical career in Surgery but then moved on to obtain postgraduate specialist training and qualification in Public Health. He has studied business and also has a PG Certificate in Medical Education. Dr Malik worked in senior roles in the NHS and as a Medical Officer in the World Health over a span of ten years. He is now a Senior Lecturer for postgraduate medical education with the Brighton and Sussex Medical School (University of Brighton) as well as a Clinical Advisor to a major Japanese corporation specialising internationally in medical devices and equipment. Dr Malik brings a wealth of knowledge and skills to The Koppers team, and The Koppers is now his main focus of work. Dr Malik has grown up as part of a medical family and has lived abroad in countries in Asia, Africa, Australasia and Europe before finally returning to Britain permanently in 2001.

Mrs Malik trained as a biologist and obtained Bachelors and Masters degrees from Imperial College London before moving into Graphic Design and successfully completing a Graduate Certificate in Design for Visual Communication. With a Japanese mother and an English father, Mrs Malik grew up in Japan attending international schools and is a native speaker of both Japanese and English. She also had a senior role with the World Health Organisation in Kobe Japan, which is where she met Dr Malik. She regularly consults to a multinational Japanese company specialising in medical devices. Mrs Malik is working on all our print media, the new website as well as looking at software that will enhance residents’ care and links with their families.
