MB HR Support was created by me, Mandy Brearley to address a real need. I wanted to provide quality, reliable, intelligent human resources support and guidance to smaller and medium-sized companies that don’t have the luxury of full-time, in-house resources. I have more than 20 years generalist HR experience working in the manufacturing and R & D sectors, as well as sales and marketing for the medical devices and biosciences arenas.
My extensive background and experience has given me the skills and experience required to work closely with businesses as an effective HR partner, dealing with anything, from the most basic ad hoc queries to the most complicated human resources issues. I am practical, reliable and responsive, and enjoy working closely with my clients to gain a thorough understanding of the challenges they face and the industry they work in.
Why MB HR Support…?
When I joined the Picker Institute I discovered that considerable work was required to update HR policies, plan a better more sustainable workforce, and change culture. These issues have all been addressed to a significant extent through using MB HR support at the level of 1 day a week or a little more for a year. We have made major steps forward including the creation of a new staff handbook which is pretty comprehensive, development of a new pay scheme, recruitment to key posts and restructuring to make a growing business sustainable, and putting in place a programme of cultural change which has already improved staff/management relationships. In addition MB HR has resolved a number of individual HR issues related to sickness and poor performance such that we now have as close to a fully functional workforce as anyone could expect. The result is a transformation of our HR function, the creation of a higher quality workforce, the reduction of risk, the resolution of several historic issues, and a more effective organisation. This is acknowledged to be the case by the Board. We are now able to transition to an in house HR function on a more routine care and maintenance bases and MB HR have also supported this.
Mandy is a highly competent and impactful HR professional, when you combine this with her approachable style and passion for her job, then she becomes an asset to any organisation. In a very short time Mandy was able to offer us a rigorous HR platform from which we could build a strong HR strategy, doing so whist engaging our team to ensure that the processes and practices employed would support and shape rather than stifle.
