Mobile field shelters can be moved around, which is useful if the ground is soft and muddy as it helps the grass to grow. Also in most countries, no permission is needed unless concrete is used. The Groundbolt low profile, safety anchors are designed specifically for use near cattle, horses etc. and are widely used in many countries for both fixed and mobile shelters and stables.
The standard Erdanker range is ideal for securing shelters, fitting them is quick and easy: Hammer in the anchors close to the structure using a sledge hammer, when almost at ground level and with the anchor top in the correct position, bolt an Erdanker bracket to the anchor then bolt or screw the other end of the bracket to the shelter, the bracket prevents further rotation and the shelter is fixed. A shelter can be fixed down in minutes and in any weather. Planning permission is not normally needed. The appropriate anchors are the Erdanker 50x680ED for very hard ground and the Erdanker 50x800 or 50x900 for most ground conditions. A popular bracket is the D505.
Greenhouses, small wooden sheds, horse shelters, and gazebos must be rigidly fixed to the ground to avoid them being blown over. The Erdanker range of ground anchors (or ground spikes) provides a very effective way of achieving this without the expense and time needed to lay a concrete base, in addition, for temporary structures, the anchors can be removed quickly and easily, leaving nothing in the ground
Garden sheds can often be secured with type B fittings, the anchors are hammered in to a suitable height, then the fitting is bolted and screwed on. The method below illustrates the anchor on the inside, this is only possible if the base is accessible from above of course, if the shed base is integral, the fitting would go on the outside. One advantage of fitting them on the inside is that the anchor is essentially invisible from the outside, this can be useful where there is no permission for a fixed shed.
For temporary installations, for example at trade shows, the Groundbolt JF range might be more suitable. The JF fittings are permanently screwed or bolted to an accessible part of the shed, with the JF anchors hammered through them as and when the structure needs fixing. The fitting prevents unwanted rotation. To remove them, the anchors are simply unscrewed.
Low cost polytunnels are often supplied with securing pegs, however to keep the package weight and cost down, any supplied pegs are likely to be no more than small tent pegs which might work if the tunnel is sited in a very protected position but not otherwise. In most cases, you will have to provide your own anchors.
Park benches and other street furniture are generally secured to the ground, both for safety and to avoid theft. The Groundbolt Erdanker® and JF range of ground anchors provide a very cost effective means of achieving this without using concrete.
Our aircraft tie down anchors provide permanent or temporary ground fixings to secure light aircraft in open ground. They are easy to install in any weather and can be quickly removed without damaging the ground.
The anchors are very useful for operators of small airfields, as heavy duty tie downs can be provided for air rallies and shows (and general emergencies), without needing concrete, also they can be removed without disturance to the ground.
