I founded The Sales Performance Company in 2012 but the ‘roots’ of the company were formed during my 30 year career in sales and sales management. Son of an antique dealer (more Lovejoy than Henry Sandon) I was indoctrinated into the world of buying & selling at a very early age. I dropped out of college at 17 to take up my first sales role as an advertising sales rep with the Birmingham Post & Mail.
In the mid 1980′s I joined financial services company General Portfolio and after just two years I was a regional sales manager responsible for 120 staff across two offices, with a combined turnover of £5M. Not bad considering I was still just 21. It was whilst with General Portfolio that I developed a keen interest in sales staff development. Over the years that interest has grown into a passion and some might say obsession!
I do everything I can can to promote the ‘sales profession’ as a career choice and I’m a proud Fellow of the Institute of Sales and Marketing Management (ISMM) and also of the Chartered Management Institute (CMI). I wrote and teach an Advanced Apprenticeship in Professional Selling Skills delivered by QA Apprenticeships (designated ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted). I am a judge for the 2014 Women In Sales Awards.
I have an entrepreneurial attitude and have launched a number of businesses over the years as varied as light haulage & cherished car registrations. This experience gives me a full understanding of business issues, way beyond the confines of the sales department.
