ABOUT THE JIGSAW ORGANISATION LIMITED

We don’t try to dictate what members should do in their private lives, but we do expect everyone to be free from drug or alcohol usage when attending our meetings or activities. Every person’s recovery or rehabilitation journey is different – what we offer is fellowship, mutual support, the chance to recover confidence and to rebuild self-esteem in company with others on a similar pathway.

The first part of the Jigsaw experience is based on offering opportunities for service users to meet together on a regular basis – to talk about issues that affect their lives and/or offer help and guidance by tapping into the wealth of experiences that service users have to offer. Being drawn from very divergent backgrounds, we do expect members to respect each other’s different views and perspectives and we do insist on confidentiality.

The second element is related to engagement, which we achieve by offering members access to a wide ranging programme of free activities – transport provided. To participate, members are required to attend our meetings and subscribe to our simple rules. We also offer pathways to training, education and volunteering – often in conjunction with partner agencies.

Our group is open to all such service users and their family members and, because we work on a group basis, we do not have need to enter into detailed examination of any individual’s history. Our philosophy is that it’s not about yesterday – it’s about tomorrow, and finding ways and means to help members move their lives forward.

The Jigsaw model of service user engagement is accepted by the National Offender Management Service (NOMS) as offering best practice within this sector. In November 2014, we were won the Police and Crime Commissioner’s ‘Third Sector Award’ for our work in reducing crime and the rehabilitation of offenders.
