Who we are
Our main focus is working with the most disadvantaged in society, particularly women, young people, refugees and unemployed. We wish to empower these groups to realise their full potential by engaging them in education and training and other activities to develop their skills and help them become independent and confident enough to participate fully in society. We believe this is an essential part of creating an integrated and cohesive society.
This club helps me to relax and be myself. I have made many new friends.
Started my own business on Instagram! Before I joined the Crochet Club, I couldn’t even hold a hook!
Its brilliant doing things together as a community. That feeling that follows...it’s pretty heart-warming. So how do all these amazing things happen? Of course, it’s with the brilliant organisation and input from such amazing people behind the Sheba Project. For me its brought bags of confidence, meeting my local community and working together to achieve brilliant things. I've always wanted to get stuck in with my local neighbours and just get chatting but never knew where to start! And it’s definitely happening since discovering the Sheba Project!! It’s definitely an eye opener to some of the amazing things I've been involved in, makes me feel great to walk out and that everyone just says hello to one another, that smile from familiar faces just makes my day!
I have always been busy working all my life, after retirement I realised that as my children had flown the nest there was a massive gap in my life. I came across the ladies at the crochet club at the library one day, I was immediately made to feel welcome and not looked back since. I have learnt how to crochet from scratch! Now I’m creating my own hats, bootees, blankets and sweaters for the various neo natal units we are managing to donate to.
