Urban Edge Environmental Consulting Ltd is a specialist ecological and environmental planning practice operating across the UK.
We provide consulting services to a wide range of private and public sector organisations, including housebuilders and commercial developers, project consortia, local government, infrastructure operators, public and private sector utility companies and regulators. Our aim is to innovate in partnership with our clients to achieve lasting, effective and creative solutions for sustainable development.
Urban Edge Environmental Consulting operates nationally. We have fulfilled our clients’ objectives at sites across the UK from Hampshire and Sussex, to Powys and Shropshire, from Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, to Falkirk and Stirling, from Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex, to Buckinghamshire, Berkshire and London.
Westergate Business Centre is a pleasingly designed high-performance building that was created with a high regard to the environment. The overall design achieved a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating, one of the first in Brighton to do so. The following key aspects were implemented to achieve the BREEAM status:
Use of green walls to provide more varied habitats and nectar sources for wildlife
Installation of swift boxes to provide nesting opportunities for this Local Biodiversity Action Plan species
Use of ‘north lights’ and ‘sun tubers’ to provide good levels of day lighting in order to reduce the need for artificial lighting
Monitoring of CO2 emissions during the construction phase, with total emissions offset by tree planting to achieve carbon neutrality
