He is able to offer a complete design service, including the calculation of structural steel and timber beams, to provide a package of documents for submission to the Planning and Building Control authorities
After becoming a Chartered Building Surveyor in 1995 he worked in local Government managing a team of property specialists involved in all aspects of domestic and commercial property management. Some significant commissions include the design of a new 6 bay fire station, the major refurbishment of the buildings and pool plant at three leisure centres and a theatre. He also gained experience of working in social housing, liaising with tenants and managing several phases of kitchen and bathroom refurbishments
In 2011 Richard started his own company, Richard Vest Architectural Design Ltd, with Rachel Mason BSc providing Computer Aided Design (CAD) services and office administration. He also partners with other specialist consultants to add to his breadth of experience and provide support for the larger projects.
Chris Walker, who worked alongside Richard for 10 years as the Building Services Engineer to the Council, has now joined with Richard to provide mechanical and electrical engineering expertise, legionella risk management and auditing of energy and water usage.
