We recognise that what can start as a small problem with a component or sub-assembly can often result in a number of vehicles requiring rework or retrofit, this was the strategy behind aligning e-ppl with a specialist quality service provider such as AutoScan to enable us to collectively offer the full range of solutions to our customers.
E-PPL (pronounced E-People) Background & Overview:
Simmerson Associates Ltd was formed in 2002 and re-branded its trading name as E-PPL in April 2009. The company has a 100% positive trading history working both directly for OEM’s & suppliers having successfully delivered outsourced service contracts.
Over the past ten years E-PPL has developed a first class reputation for delivery amongst the OEM and 1st tier Senior Management Teams, by providing Batch & Hold and Launch Support on various new Vehicle Launches including Freelander 2, Jaguar XF, 10MY Range Rover, 10MY Range Rover Sport & Disco 4, New Jaguar XJ, 12MY Range Rover, Range Rover Sport and Disco model lines and more recently Evoque, New Range Rover, New Range Rover Sport, Jaguar F Type and XF Sportbrake.
E-PPL specialises in Highly Skilled & Technical Projects, ranging from Vehicle Launches through to managing Major Vehicle Rework Campaigns and Special Vehicle Builds, such as Aston Martin’s One-77 which our team hand-built and painted.
We are the contracted company of choice for highly skilled support, with customers including Jaguar Land Rover, Aston Martin, Caterpillar, Toyota, Bentley and many others.
Strategic Alignment of E-PPL & AutoScan:
The principals of both E-PPL and Autoscan had known each other for over 10 years and early discussions held between Paul Simmerson and Les Brown quickly recognised the future of the Service Provider Sector was about providing the widest possible range of services ‘all under one roof’ as a single/full service provider.
After several months of discussions and comprehensive negotiations, the Sale & Purchase of AutoScan to E-PPL was agreed and Paul Simmerson acquired all AutoScan business interests to ensure seamless continuation of the business and no disturbance to either company’s customers.
The Sale & Purchase was successfully concluded on the 1st June 2011 and ‘together’ we are now able to offer a wider range of services than is available from any other service provider – we are now well positioned to fulfil the total requirements of all OEM’s and their supply chain and we plan to grow our service range over the coming years by investing into the business and our people.
To support this growth, we determined the need to appoint a Senior Automotive professional as the Group Chairman and Bob Dover (ex-Chairman & Chief Executive of Jaguar, Land Rover & Aston Martin) was appointed in July 2011. We are extremely proud to have someone of Bob’s standing, reputation and Board Level experience as the figurehead for the Group.
The strategy of combining the companies has proved to be the right one and traditional AutoScan customers who required containment services now also benefit from the skilled support provided by E-PPL (through AutoScan who have established supplier and financial codes). Equally E-PPL customers are now able to call on AutoScan’s core skills as a more cost effective solution, which is billed via E-PPL as we have established supplier codes.
This combined approach has delivered considerable growth in both businesses which has seen us become the UK’s largest Specialist Automotive Service Provider.
