Foran Construction are delighted to announce that we raised £6206.46 For SANDS charity. This has far exceeded our original target of £2000 and we wish to thank all those who sponsored us so generously.
Those of us who began the canoe trip on Friday 24th July managed to complete the 26 miles the following day, albeit some of us very wet and sore. A huge thank you to the following for their commitment; Aidan Thompson, Kevin Kelly, Thomas Hickey, Stephen Spellman, Padraig Mc Goldrick, Eamon Mc Conigley, Barry Lavelle, Phil Busang, Padraig Bennett, Michael Keane, Oliver Lavelle, Ronan Mc Donnell, Tom Moriarty, Peter Downey, Tom Quaid, Paul Lavelle and Liam Sammon. Also, a special thanks to Kevin Kelly and Julia Murray who worked tirelessly to raise money for this cause, to Sinead Walsh who helped organise and coordinate the fundraising and to the New Inn, Brentford for hosting a great night of entertainment and craic!
The money raised will help SANDS to continue to promote and fund research that could reduce the loss of of babies’ lives, to provide emotional support, comfort and practical help, as well as many services, such as the SANDS Helpline, to the many thousands of families who are left devastated when their babies die.
Once finished, we visited the Amani children’s home. It really put things into perspective how fortunate we are and what we take for granted every day compared to these unfortunate children.
We were very proud to have raised a total of £7,615.83 for the charity. Amani helps to take the homeless and parentless street children of Tanzania off the streets and provide them with a safe home environment and schooling.
