Solway Swim swimming pool was built in 2004, by Robert and Maureen Mayor, as a training venue for their sons Robert and Andrew. Both boys at that time were coached by their mum Maureen, and competing at a National level in swimming, were finding it hard to get enough water time at local pools to train, so to have their own pool was the perfect solution.
Even when Andrew moved to Newcastle for University, Solway Swim was still the ideal place to train during the holidays, and helped him maintain his intense training regime.
In 2011 Solway Swim built new changing facilities along with a pool viewing area, and large car park, in order to open to the public, and offer services to people in the local community, and having recently retired from competitive swimming Andrew has also joined the team at Solway Swim, and works alongside Maureen, and the rest of the staff, who are committed to helping as many others into the pool to enjoy swimming.
All involved at Solway Swim believe that so much can be gained from swimming and other water based exercise and activities, and we want to help people of all ages have a fun and enjoyable experience, in a safe and clean environment.
