he practice was set up originally in 2004 as Hobbs & Foster Architects Ltd, to work throughout Kent from an office base in Canterbury. Now as Alan Foster Architects from late 2011, Alan Foster continues in practice using that knowledge and experience in depth of the construction process, from design concept to planning permissions, from working drawings to contract administration and site inspections, and the many varied phases of construction to completion which have been his stock in trade as a RIBA Chartered Architect.
The company specialises in residential and domestic projects including new build, external and internal alterations and extensions and smaller institutional projects – up to the limit of Professional Indemnity Insurance.
first joined a firm of architects in London aged 16, sitting his HNC in Building Construction at technical college. His career in London included two spells at Shankland Cox after experience gained at Grima, GMW (Gollins Melvin Ward), and Camus GB. Returning to Kent, Alan worked at Holfords, Clague, Greenfield Jones, Pateman & Coupe and Roger Wenn Partnership.
Alan Foster Architects is a RIBA Chartered Practice. Operating from Canterbury in Kent, we focus chiefly on extension/or alteration of dwellings, listed buildings, conversions, bespoke new builds and also including institutional work.
