Vintage was first established in Shrewsbury in 2009. In 2011, besides ‘growing’ their own young family together, Lulu Allman and Tristan Haynes also joined forces in business together; making it the true ‘family business’ you see today!
Lulu, who is from Shropshire, has a degree in the ‘History of Art’ and started out as a professional florist (her own original business ‘Lulu Flowers’ still going strong today under its new ownership!) Her naturally creative ‘flair’ shines through the shop in her careful selection and presentation of the goods we source together. Right now, Lulu is mainly occupied in the raising of our young family!
Tristan (originally from Dorset) has a background in business consultancy and, as well as keeping all the ‘boring stuff’ in check, brings an ethos of ‘sustainability’ into the business. He has also developed many practical skills, including the re-wiring & testing of old lamps (as a qualified ‘competent person’), repairing vintage furniture and, also, tutoring on our ‘Annie Sloan’ workshops.
We have been stockists for ‘Annie Sloan’ from day one and became local distributors for the company, in Mid-North Shropshire (and the Welsh border), supplying & supporting fellow stockists in Ellesmere, Market Drayton and Welshpool.
The shop and all that goes with it is our mutual ‘passion’ and pretty much our ‘life’, but when we do get time to do something else we love family walks with our dog, Toby, cycling and just enjoying living in the wonderful town we are so lucky to live in, and the beautiful surrounding countryside, as much as possible!
