We strive to provide a welcoming, happy, calm and caring environment where children are able to play and learn at their own pace, whilst making discoveries and choices for themselves along the way and through their own interests.
In doing this, it is our aim to provide a nurturing environment that facilitates children's learning and development enabling them to grow in confidence, self esteem and develop their own personality and spirituality within a framework of appropriate expectation and continuity.
Our ethos and way of learning provides a range of experiences that stimulates a child's love of learning and natural discovery. With the right approach, children learn willingly and develop naturally.
At Round and Round the Gardens there are three units across three rooms. 'BUMBLEBEES' is home to children aged between 12 months to 2 years. 'LADYBIRDS' 2-3 years; whilst 'DRAGONFLIES' provides a spacious and bright learning environment for children aged 3 years plus. All children benefit from being able to use the whole provision, with each room offering something special for the children. Each room is also able to ensure children move from room to room at an appropriate developmental time for them. Each room has the opportunity to extend 6 months past the child's birthday, ensuring they move up when they are confident in higher ratio's and group sizes.
As we use the Early Years Foundation Stage, we realise the importance of children learning through play and making sense of their play and learning environment both inside and out. Therefore, it is important that we enable children to maximise their learning opportunities whilst enjoying the provision as a whole.
We are fortunate to have much space outside for your child to explore throughout their sessions with us.
My passion of teaching and caring for children has been shaped over the past eight years. I have taught dance to young children through to adults; creating projects both with and for infant, junior and senior schools. Working as a music counsellor and head programme counsellor at a camp in New York for children and adults with mild to severe disabilities.
In 2013 I was very pleased to accept the title of Creative Practitioner which has provided me with the opportunity and responsibility of ensuring that the nursery is being creative in its approach including activities in all classrooms and to provide support to all of the team with ideas etc. I have undertaken a specific training course that extends my understanding and knowledge of all areas of creativity including dance, singing, art, puppetry and drama for young children etc.
In 2014 I was excited to accept the role of Deputy Manager (Maternity Cover), working closely with Suzanne, Nursery Manager and Andi, Business Manager, which is an amazing opportunity for me to explore new responsibilities and to increase my knowledge and capabilities, as well as ensuring that Round and Round the Gardens' ethos is maintained and the children remain happy in their exploration of everything that is provided.
I love making fruit smoothies! (especially blueberries, strawberries, mango and coconut!)
I work closely with Suzanne, Nursery Manager, Andi, Business Manager and Sarah, Deputy Manager.
Ladybirds have enjoyed exploring their five senses through new experiences such as making coloured glass and engaging in sensory explorations with their bodies. The children have been engrossed in discovering new things and have been inquisitive into finding out things for themselves. This has bought about lots of new language, conversations and the children asking lots of questions about what they can see/taste/hear/feel/smell.
'Staff provide a broad range of stimulating and interesting activities that motivate children to learn. They carry out accurate assessments and plan to close any gaps in learning. All children, including those with English as an additional language and those with additional needs, make good progress from their starting points.
Partnerships with parents are very strong. The regular two-way flow of information provides continuity for children and involves parents in their children's learning effectively.'
