As a day nursery registered for 72 children, we are open from 7.30am to 6pm Monday to Friday, 51 weeks of the year closing at Christmas and on bank holidays.
We do not have parking however we are opposite a public car park where parents can walk down to the setting. We bought the building from a previous day Nursery in September 2011 and since have worked hard in refurbishing it, and equipping it with new resources and equipment.
Enchanted Nursery offers a variety of extra classes for your child to participate in.
Any children who are aged three years and above, are offered the opportunity to go and learn to swim at Energique Fitness Club at the top of Anstey Park (only a stone’s throw away from the nursery). The swimming class is for 30 minutes each Friday (for 12 weeks each term) and is taught by two swimming instructors at Energique Fitness Club. Nursery staff accompany the children to and from the venue and assist the children in getting changed into and out of their swimming attire.
We are always looking at improving the service that we offer and so are more than happy to listen to any recommendations for additional classes that you think may be beneficial..
We offer the opportunity each week for the children to enjoy some extra activities alongside their nursery day. These include Ballet, French, Yoga-Chi, Music and Swimming and are term time only classes which are provided by outside teachers who charge additionally. At the beginning of each term children have the opportunity to sign-up for the class for the term and enjoy some additional learning. Our music sessions are ran in-house each Thursday for a small cost of 50p per week.
We organise visits and outings in Alton/Holybourne ensuring we are familiar with the local area, exploring and experiencing all the town has to offer, alongside our themes and topics and general interests.
At Enchanted we organise a large Annual Events Calendar which provides the children with lots of exciting things to look forward to. These events include and Annual Family Day out, a Sports Day, Christmas and Halloween parties, Planting mornings, Easter egg hunts and much more.
What we as a nursery put into our children’s mouths is as important as what we put in their minds. We aim to always provide a healthy and well balanced diet for your child whilst they are in our care. All our lunches are home-cooked on the premises and fresh ingredients are used each day, providing the children with three meals, plus snacks.
Provide stimulating and exciting opportunites that promote every child’s individual learning and development in unrivalled surroundings;
We ensure the selection of activities we provide support children to develop a positive sense of themselves and others; respect for others; social skills; and a positive disposition to learn. We also ensure support for children’s emotional well being helping them to know themselves and what they can do, encourage independence and celebrate difference.
All our food is cooked fresh on the day by our on-site chefs. Our chefs plan and prepare all of the menus in partnership with the nursery team and parents, who offer knowledgeable feedback. As such we able to meet the most varied of diets for example we provide meals for children who only eat “Halal” meat and vegetarians. We can manage food for children who have allergies to products and have a management system to further support this.
At Enchanted Nursery meal times are a special time of the day and a pleasant social occasion.
In the baby room we may have babies from as young as 3 months old, as such at this stage will still be on a diet of purely milk, so their meal times are dictated by their routine at home. We will feed babies with the milk, which you provide. They will be held and cuddled while they are fed just like they would be at home.
Once a baby has weaned we will feed them in a low/floor chair, to encourage social mealtimes alongside their friends around a table together. The food will be freshly made and pureed and we will provide you with a written record of what they ate and how much. Again we will follow your child’s routine from home.
Weaning should only be introduced after a number of considerations including the child’s age, health, development and growth rate. Weaning should start from 6 as this is the age at which milk alone becomes insufficient to provide all the nutrients babies need to grow and develop.
Weaning is supported at the nursery BUT we will only provide foods that have been previously tried at home and no signs of any allergic reaction were observed. We will not give your baby their first taste of any food at nursery, unless you have previously agreed it alongside our ingredients list.
The outdoors not only provides us with a large space for large motor skill development such as running, climbing, jumping etc but can also be an extension of the indoor classroom and allows us to explore our environment, science, knowledge and understanding of the world in further detail.
At Enchanted Nursery we provide children with equipment and resources both indoor and outdoor that are sufficient, challenging, and interesting and build children’s confidence to take manageable risks in their play.
On the reverse of this we also need to plan opportunities to provide children with sleep and rest. You will find in all of our age groups, opportunities will be provided to allow children to sleep and we have created quiet areas for children who want to relax and rest for a period of time.
Research has shown that a key person approach is the most effective way of ensuring children form and build relationships with a significant adult in the setting. At our nursery we have an established key person approach and this is threaded through our ethos, policies and procedures. Our approach gives children the reassurance to feel secure and cared for, helping them to become familiar with the nursery environment and to feel confident within it, developing at their best. . The importance of this Key-Person is detrimental to the ‘Settling-In process, which they support the child through to ensure they are happy at nursery. This Key-Person will be there for you to discuss any concerns with as well as to celebrate achievements and share stories with in relation to your child. Your key person will strive to be the best person to understand your child’s individual needs and to share information with you about their experiences here in the nursery. This ensures above all else that your child’s individuality, efforts and achievements leaves them feeling valued and respected for who they are and who they aspire to be.
