The Business

Aurora Dancewear is a privately owned business making dancewear for professional ballet dancers, students of ballet and recreational dancers of all ages. All dancewear is made in our London studio by a dedicated team of professionals working under the direction of Thelma Browning. Items of dancewear are made on receipt of an order and usually completed within a few days, urgent orders are often completed and sent out within 24 hours to arrive the next day in for example the USA. We also undertake costume work for the theatre and institutions like the BBC and Madame Tussards.

Thelma was born in Hong Kong, and educated in England, gaining a BSc (Hons.). degree in Business Economics and a BA (Hons.). degree in History from London University.

Thelma's first business, designing hand knitted woollen garments, is still active today after some 40 years.

Thelma lived in the US for more than a decade managing her own businesses and on her return to the UK was instrumental in setting up Wear Moi Dancewear in London in May 1996.

Ballet tutus for competitions - Gymnastics leotards - Skating dresses - Dance school uniforms - Scholar and livery gowns - Sportswear - Bespoke dancewear - Movie and theatre costumes. Costume work is a major part of the business and is of necessity completed very quickly, often within 24 hours. All garments are made to order and are non-returnable.
