About Russell Armstrong
I have been in the heating, ventilation and building business since I left school some 30 years ago.
My first job was as a draughtsman for a manufacturer of ventilation ductwork. Having obtained an ONC from the hertfordshire College of Building in 1986 and wanting to expand my knowledge about the industry I went to a building services design company in St Albans, Herts. Here I started as a junior design engineer and started another course at college but at a higher level that being HND (Higher National Diploma). I worked on many landmark projects, amongst those, the complete refirbishment of ICI House South (ICI Headquarters) and Grand Buildings (Trafalgar Square).
Having turned freelance, I started to gain a much wider base of knowledge about the industry, how companies approached design engineering and I learnt from many fine engineers about how to do things and how not to do them! From there I was approached by a manufacturer of ventilation product to work for them representing them in the sales field. As I had the contacts they wanted to gain from that and so I started a sales career.
I loved it. I felt that I was very succesful and had many happy days meeting customer, finding out what they wanted, learning about the products I was selling, so that I could sell to the customers only that which they would need or was useful to them. I built a strong foundation of contacts in the contractor side of the industry within the home counties.
However following a move up to the East Midlands, I had a rethink of what I wanted to do. I chose to start my own Kitchen and bathroom fitting company and called it Integrated Interiors. I learnt the trade quickly (fitting rather than designing) and went on to work (self employed) for company's such as Wickes, Porcalenosa and Creative Interiors as well as building a personal customer base.
Having married in 2008, I moved to Chellaston and I continued with the larger projects, but as most of these were now some 20-30 miles away, something had to give, so that was when I chose to do the smaller jobs and provide a very valuable service in the local area.
Therefore, in order to build a sucessful, local business, I have to care 100% about the job I do and the customers I serve.
I love doing this work. It can be straight forward or it can be tricky (space and access wise) I enjoy it immensly.
If you have a job you need doing, call me Russell Amrstrong, I would love to hear from you.
