The Life Centre is run by Bierley Community Association Ltd, a registered charity and company limited by guarantee since 2010.
Bierley Community Association currently employs three members of staff and has an fantastic team of volunteers who we could not function without. Whilst we head up the seniors work at the centre the majority of other services are run by our partners and other service providers.
Ann was born and raised in Bierley and still lives on the estate, not far from the centre. She has worked at The Life Centre for the past 6 years performing a variety of duties including; cleaning, lunch preparation, key holder and playing a supporting role at open days and other activities. She also takes the lead role in delivering our There For You Home Help service for the Bierley community as part of our seniors work.
Bierley Community Association Ltd runs The Life Centre, a community centre in the heart of Bierley housing estate in the BD4 area of Bradford. We have been in the community for many years though have gone through various changes over the last couple of years to ensure we are providing a good quality and accessible service that meets the needs of our neighbourhood.
The Life Centre offers a wide range of activities and services each day of the week, partnering with experienced external agencies to provide: Benefits advice, Counselling, Sports sessions, Zumba, Gentle exercise for the over 60s, Asda Bus Run, Book and Movie club, Various youth projects and clubs, Kids clubs, community lunches, Friday Friends, access to computer suite for job searching, internet browsing and document writing. Our rooms and hall are also available for hire for private parties, council surgeries etc.
As you can see we try to provide something for everyone to improve their circumstances. Our vision is “working in partnership to bring the community together – creating hope, realising potential and changing lives”. We hope that through accessing our services members of the community will improve their health and well being through building friendships, sports and exercise, developing skills and finding a listening ear.
