In 2009, Paul Wright approached Duncan Lovett for assistance on consulting with a company who were re-launching their ecommerce business. During their dealings together, with Paul’s background in IT systems and database design, and Duncan’s background in web design and development, they concluded that they could offer their skills as a full ecommerce consultancy service. By December of that year, Flair Consultancy Limited was incorporated.
From the beginning, we considered what it was like to run an ecommerce business from the client’s point of view.
It was during this time we found Interspire Shopping Cart, a well designed ecommerce suite that managed products, inventory, customers and content, all in one place. Functionality aside, the fact that the control panel was so logical and easy to use compared to anything else we’d yet seen sealed the deal for us. We had found something that we’d be happy to hand over to a client.
As our expertise with the platform grew, in 2014 we were awarded Premium Partner status by BigCommerce. We were also the first Certified Partner outside of North America. That same year, BigCommerce approached us to help launch their new theme store, and so we developed 4 themes that were hugely popular. The BigCommerce platform has since been updated (see https://www.flairconsultancy.com/blog/2017/02/bigcommerce-stencil-5-reasons-to-upgrade/) and we have released themes based on the new framework with updated designs and features.
In 2009, we started our company working at each other’s homes. By 2011, we’d moved into the top floor of a cold draughty warehouse, where we expanded our team and continued to build our portfolio of clients. In 2013 we settled into our current studios in rural Shropshire. Today, we have 7 members in our team, support 3 ecommerce platforms, and provide work for clients worldwide.
