ESH Works is an independent non profit making organisation providing mutual support for those addicted to or affected by alcohol, drugs or other dependencies. We offer involvement and volunteering opportunities for people with personal experience of addiction who want to help us make a difference.
ESH Works has a team of volunteers who are able to pass on their own personal experience of addiction to other people who are currently in the same position as they once were.
For over a decade ESH Works have been helping individuals and family members through their problems with alcohol and drugs. Our personal experiences and extensive knowledge of the treatment options enables us to offer very practical support and guidance for people in their journey of recovery.
The fundamental principles and ethos of the organisation are reflected in the prefix of the name 'ESH Works'. The letters ESH represent the Experience, Strength and Hope which alcoholics, addicts and their families who have lived through the issues and found a solution can give to support people who are still experiencing addiction problems.
to incorporate a dedicated counselling and support annex in the centre.
Everyone has something to contribute, initially you could be involved in our addiction support groups or family support sessions which could help you and support other service users. By sharing your own personal experiences, perhaps in meetings, forums, or in consultations you would become an integral part of the way the alcohol and drugs services are planned, delivered, commissioned and evaluated.
"...our mentors provide support and encouragement for people to help them make changes in their life!"
We are always looking for people to join ESH Works who have their own unique and personal experiences of living with the issues surrounding alcohol and drugs.
However, you may just want to help us by using your local knowledge of venues, for example shops, libraries and other public facilities who you know would be willing to promote our support and information groups to ensure there's an awareness of them in your local area.
As individuals gain more skills and experience volunteering with ESH Works we aim to help people into a position of employment either within our organisation or to pursue their career externally, perhaps even in health and social care.
