Orangeries can be traced back to the 17th century and they were built originally for growing exotic plants and fruits. Orangeries provide more of a solid extension to properties and are distinguished by having a glazed lantern within a flat roof structure and more columns.
Secondary glazing is a suitable product for use in situations where increased thermal insulation is required e.g. in listed or historical buildings or conservation areas where the primary windows are single glazed. Secondary glazing is also specified in situations where noise reduction is necessary and desirable e.g. in hospitals.
