The Society as a company is governed by its ARTICLES OF ASSOCIATION. The Society is also obliged to have a MEMORANDUM OF ASSOCIATION.
2.1 To act as an advocate for all public sector planning and related services in England; to provide, through research, exchanges of information and best practice, an efficient and effective service delivery.
2.2 To provide assistance and advice to the Local Government Association and to Central Government on planning related matters.
2.4 To provide appropriate services and support to the members of the Society and their authorities in furthering planning in the public sector and enhancing service delivery.
2.5 To act as a centre of excellence in public sector planning matters, for example by the production of advice notes, codes of practice and a network of Committees, Topic Forums and Regional Groups through which information and best practice is shared between public sector planning practitioners.

Company Information
POS Enterprises was set up in 2004, as the delivery arm of the Society. Its remit is "to provide consultancy and other services in support of and in a manner consistent with the objects of the Planning Officers Society."
POS Enterprises is wholly owned by the Society, and all profits go to the Society to swell its capacity to provide support to its members and public sector planning. The tie in to the Society's objectives is important, because it makes it clear that our purpose is not just to bring in revenue, but to actively support local authorities to succeed and improve their services.

As a member you keep up to date with our monthly e-bulletin; get access to draft responses by the Society to Government consultation documents; participate in specialist networks, task groups, and/or regional meetings; network with your peers and Government officials; benefit from occasional free seminars by POS Enterprises specialist consultants; and participate in occasional visits/study tours.
