, a lighting cameraman with 23 years experience, One Box Television can guide you through the whole creative process, saving you money, time and stress.
With access to the finest crews available, One Box Television not only supplies the most affordable multi-camera solution available, but the right people to operate it. A hard-working team that strive for perfection on your project.
After joining the BBC straight from school, Richard spent 10 happy years as a staff cameraman, training across a broad range of programmes. All Creatures Great and Small was an early highlight at Pebble Mill before a brief attachment to TV Centre lead to a job at BBC OBs. Here he widened his PSC and lighting experience, as well as working on some of the biggest OBs including two Olympics. Freelance since 1996, he became very busy with Jimmy Jib projects, at one point owning 6 cranes! In January 2008, One Box Television was born and this has been an on going development project where his keen eye for detail and customer satisfaction has meant constant investment in new equipment, much of it custom made.
Jamie is One Box Television's staff assistant. Having thoroughly tested kit in our new base before loading into the vans, Jamie has a photographic memory and can always tell us where to find a piece of kit we all know is loaded - somewhere! He has fitted in well with the One Box team, enjoying the banter and making new friends along the way. A real asset to the team.
From stethoscope to vectorscope, "Doctor John" swapped an established career in medicine for a life in television. After a number of years training at The London Studios, John joined the freelance market, initially as a camera assistant, then as a jib assistant and camera operator. Equally at home running the touchline as he is handheld on music shows, John enjoys many of the challenges that One Box shoots bring. He has acted as technical manager on a number of shoots, and has taken major projects from planning to recce to transmission.
After training in Technical Operations for TV production Ben pursued a career as a Camera Operator and has been working freelance ever since. Keeping a varied work load he has worked across Broadcast, Corporate, Live Events and Rock n Roll tours. Keen to not pigeon-hole himself he has always kept his hand in with editing and often shoots and edits his own material. Having an all round knowledge of production, being familiar with working in many different environments and always happy to 'muck in' Ben has been a great asset to the One Box team.
After 6 months full time training with us, Tom has become one of the most useful freelance assistants on the team. His knowledge of the kit is fantastic, and he is usually steps ahead during the rig having already done what others are thinking needs doing! As part of our passion for training, a spare camera was added to the mixer for "An Evening with Sir Michael Caine" at The Royal Albert Hall and Tom did a fantastic job operating on stage.
Awarded an MBE for Services to Broadcasting, Peter has been a part of One Box Television since day one. A former ITN senior engineer, he sailed to The Falklands aboard an aircraft carrier to deliver pictures and stories that we all remember only too well from the conflict. More recently, he was active in the Beijing Olympics, 2010 World Cup and was heavily involved in coverage of the Pope's visit. He has built and designed many aspects of the One Box kit, including the 8 camera unit, the new "Vision Box" and most importantly our unique fibre adaptors that have revolutionised the way we shoot. Like ourselves, Peter takes all feedback positively and is not happy with a design until it has been road-tested and approved by the end user.
Thank you so much for all your efforts across this project. It was a great challenge for us and without the team at One Box Television it would not have happened in the exemplary fashion that it did.
My thanks to you and the team at One Box for a slick and professional operation that can rig-in, shoot, de-rig with the minimum of fuss and at the same time providing invaluable support to the production team.
