Stage on Screen was formed in 2009 by Richard Adams, Phil Rees and Peter Eyles to produce classic stage drama and record live performances for theatre lovers, students, teachers and lecturers who otherwise would not get to see these important works, or would like to own a recording of the performance for future reference. All three are keen theatre goers, with backgrounds in film and television, education and publishing and we realised that in a world of new media there was no access to these great plays apart from the occasional live performance. Stage on Screen is providing that access.
The shows are recorded live at Greenwich Theatre in London with the audience present, aiming to give the DVD viewer the same theatrical experience as the audience members. A High Definition Outside Broadcast Unit is used, typically comprising 6-8 cameras and 48 track audio facility. The Outside Broadcasts have been directed to date by the award winning ex BBC director Chris Cowey, whose expertise in multi camera live shows is much sought after in the world of television. The DVDs are high production value, broadcast standard recordings that are as enjoyable and rewarding to watch as they are challenging and exciting to produce.

Whether you’re teaching English, Drama or Theatre Studies, our DVDs of classic stage plays are an innovative, entertaining and enjoyable way to motivate learning and help maximise grades. They’re popular curriculum choices and also great if you’re thinking of staging a play.
Schools, colleges and teachers benefit as our stage plays on DVD are all set texts on the UK national curriculum, including Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, GCSE, A Level, Scottish Higher English, Theatre Studies and Drama. In addition, our special 3 Disc Packs contain an in depth extra disc to help with the teaching and appreciation of the play.
Our productions are also frequently set texts on overseas curriculums, and, as you’ll see from our map at
, are already popular around the globe. To ensure that our productions can be seen by as many people and in as many countries as possible, we produce all our DVDs as multi-region playable in whichever format is required.
