As a midwife and mother I knew I wanted natural products on my babys skin, this included using cloth nappies. Unable to choose which washable nappy to use on my first daughter, I opted for disposables. When my daughter was three months old I noticed gel crystals on her skin when changing her nappy. Not knowing the long-term toxic effect this chemical would have against my daughters skin I decided it was safer and nicer to choose cotton nappies! After all, I wouldn't choose to wear scratchy paper pants with chemcial gels in, so why was I putting them on my daughter.
After struggling to find helpful and clear advice on which nappies I should use I decided to buy a selection - some were good, others were not so great!
After the birth of my second daughter, I set up The Cotton Nappy Company Ltd. In May 2009 I opened my first retail shop in Leamington, Warwickshire to enable our customers to see and feel cloth nappies instead of buying them 'blind' online. I have carefully selected a range of stylish nappies that work well and suit all budgets. From individual nappies to birth-to-potty kits, we will help you find a package that suits your needs.
Our aim is to provide you with support and unbiased advice to help you choose the right real nappies for your little one.
We take our environmental responsibilities very seriously and endeavour where possible to use materials that are fully recyclable. All our business waste is disposed of responsibly making sure the recyclable loop is maintained. With this in mind we do try to reuse packaging where we can, for example you may receive your order in a box that was re-used by our supplier and again re-used by us so please bear this in mind when you receive your order! And if possible recycle it again! (A toddler may have endless hours of fun hiding in it or a friend may benefit from it if they are moving house - the possibilities are endless!) If your order is a gift for someone please mention this at checkout and we will make a special effort to use a new recycled cardboard box.
