The company was established in 1981, as Hart Coating Technology, which started out solely supplying the surface coatings industry and later expanded into other technology-based applications.
Since then, our expertise and capabilities have grown and our product range now includes over one hundred different powders, flakes and chemicals.

Conveniently located in the heart of the industrial West Midlands, Wombourne, near Wolverhampton, is home to the brand new Hart Materials Technology Centre.
Alongside the supply of raw materials to manufacturing industry, the Technology Centre was established to provide support and expertise across a broad range of different sectors.

Company Background
The business was founded in 1981 by the current Managing Director, Dr. Tony Hart, and traded for many years as Hart Coating Technology.
These beginnings shaped the business, which focuses on raw material supply for applications where a high level of technological understanding is vital to pin-point the exact raw material needed.
Early success came from the nickel electroforming industry, which still accounts for around 25% of the turnover. Then a pivotal shift came in 1982, when the company was appointed as a distributor for US metallic materials manufacturer, Novamet Specialty Products Corporation.
Over the years, this has proved to be a very successful partnership, with Hart becoming widely recognised for its expertise in the Novamet product range.
In 2008, the company’s sustained growth resulted in a move to becoming a limited company, with the change of name to Hart Materials Limited reflecting the broadening of its activities into other technologies.
