On our first trip to Begur we were enchanted with the town, the countryside, the superb local beaches, especially Sa Riera with its excellent fish restaurant .The nearby coastal villages of Calella de Palafrugell, Llafranc and Tamariu. Each resort has waterfront restaurants and promenade and individual charm which is hard to beat ; deciding which beach to visit can be difficult with such a wonderul choice. Girona is a beautiful old city divided by the river Onyar, and is just 45minutes drive from Begur. Often known as ‘mini Barcelona’ with its Ramblas, you can enjoy the cafes, restaurants and shops without the stress of a large city. However, if like many, you crave big city life, an hour and a half will take you to Barcelona, reportedly currently more popular than Paris!
