Access Ecology Ltd aim to provide a flexible and efficient service, based on the practical experience of our ecologists implementing innovative ecological schemes and utilising their expertise across the full spectrum of ecological services.
We can provide our clients with expert advice, adapted to suit their specific needs and delivered in a pragmatic manner. We always aim to be innovative, where suitable, in an attempt to increase efficiency and be competitively cost effective, whilst at no time sacrificing quality of service.
We can provide our services across the whole of the UK, and have the capacity needed to respond to larger projects, whilst still providing a very individual service to our smaller clients.
We respect the fact that our clients have complex demands on their time and budgets. We make our expertise available to help them to achieve their aims within the law, maintaining scientific integrity and utilising good environmental practice.
Our key ecologists are all members of the Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management and all staff are committed to the Institute's Code of Professional Conduct. We are able to provide ecologists who carry the required survey licences for all UK protected species, and have extensive experience of holding development licences necessary if protected species are encountered.
Access Ecology carry out bat surveys and mitigation using the latest equipment across the UK.
If no evidence of activity is found, and the level of potential is considered to be sufficiently low then a report will be produced suitable for submission to the local planning authority.
The results will inform a survey report of our findings which is suitable for submission to the local planning authority. Our report will include suitable site specific recommendations including whether a European Protected Species Licence is required for the development to continue.
It is an offence for anyone intentionally to kill, injure or handle a bat, to possess a bat (whether live or dead), disturb a roosting bat, or sell or offer a bat for sale without a licence. It is also an offence to damage, destroy or obstruct access to any place used by bats for shelter, whether they are present or not.
Access Ecology has a number of Licensed and experienced staff who have compiled and managed successful licence applications for a range of differing development (and non-development) situations. As a result we are able to offer advice and expertise on all stages of the licensing and mitigation process.
We are now able to off a new licence to our repertoire, Bat Low Impact Class Licence (BLICL). As of Spring 2015 our Principal Ecologist, Nick Bonsall is a registered consultant for Bat Low Impact Class Licence (BLICL).
Through the BLICL we are able to offer our clients a quicker turn around on licence applications, the usual being 30 days, with a BLICL this is reduced to 10. This quicker turnaround is excellent news for clients as they can avoid costly delays.
In addition to standard building and tree risk assessments and activity surveys, Access Ecology can offer the following services in relation to bats;
The appraisals incorporate methodologies from other habitat surveys, such as phase 1, walkover surveys and arboricultural assessments, but they are more detailed and give more information about potential impacts to the ecology from any proposed works and can help inform mitigation strategies.
