Initially our main import was bunched rocket, loose rocket and pre- packed salads. This has grown substantially and we are now sourcing other produce as requested by our customers. Our main advantage is that Paolo Gambaro, being a grower himself exporting to Holland, Russia and some Scandinavian countries, is based in Noale, Venice and has personally helped in providing a network of growers to meet all of our product requirements.
From the middle of September produce is more abundant and we source a wider variety of produce from the south of Italy. From the Puglia region we will have fennel, green leafy celery, flat and curly parsley, bietola (Swiss chard), cicoria, cicoria cimata and cime di rapa. From Eboli in the Campania region we will have bunch and loose rocket, loose oriental leaves, iceberg lettuce, escarole. When in season, artichokes, leafy un-waxed lemons, several varieties of tomatoes including cherry vine as well as melons and watermelons. From Latina near Rome we have a grower for lollo biondo and rosso, oak leaf, cos and other lettuces including trocadero, a very nice lettuce little used in the U.K. In the winter we also have all varieties of radicchio e.g. chioggia, treviso precoce and tardivo and also castelfranco (variegated). These are sourced in the town of Chioggia, Treviso and Padova all in the Veneto region. At certain times of the year we are also able to get fresh truffle sourced from varios areas of Italy.
We pride ourselves in always striving to supply the best produce in the markets and on our personal service. Most of our growers are family businesses well known in the local markets for their produce. On several occasions we have taken our customers to them to create a rapport of trust and collaboration so we can please the supplier as well as our customers.
Our main customer base are the wholesale markets in and around London with our product ending up on the plates in some of the finest restaurants and hotels in the UK, but we are able to deliver anywhere in the UK. We can provide any technical data you may need on any of our products.
