A little bit about who we are
Following a 30 year career in the UK fire service reaching senior fire officer status, David created the now highly successful company; Safety Fire & Environment (SFE) Ltd who offer a range of risk management services to commerce and industry. As well as a Chartered Health & Safety Practitioner (CMIOSH) David is an registered under the Warrington Fire Certification Scheme, FRACS, for fire risk assessors through the Institute of Fire Safety Managers (IFSM). David also has a Master’s Degree In Environmental Management & Technology from Oxford Brookes University.
At SFE, we offer pragmatic solutions to safety and health, fire and environmental issues. From policy to implementation and review, as well as incident investigation, we are able to provide documents, risk assessment, advice, training and legal compliance in our three areas of expertise. Often these three areas will interact and by having expert knowledge in all, we can provide integrated solutions.

Working with clients SFE can provide
SFE offer a range of H&S training and can provide competitive quotations. Training is delivered in-house or at an external venue and can be tailored bespoke to the client, to include their own policy and procedures.
SFE can provide health & safety consultants in a variety of ways. These include an as and when day rate basis, contracted as ‘competent H&S advice’, on a weekly or monthly day rate basis.
Fully comprehensive, sample or focused H&S Audits can be provided by SFE. SFE consultants are experienced QSA auditors.
Mini health and safety audits that provide your organisation with a compliance report and are delivered with an action plan for improvement.
The Regulatory (Fire Safety) Order 2005 places duties on organisations to have in place a Fire Risk Assessment and to work towards making the workplace safe for people in the case of a fire.
SFE can act as the competent person for organisations to produce their fire risk assessment and provide an action plan for improved safety in the case of a fire. The Fire risk assessment is the starting point for a safer working environment for staff and visitors.
SFE can offer fire warden, fire awareness and fire extinguisher training on site. Additionally, hot works, hot works fire watch and welding safety training can be provided to suit the needs of your organisation.
Advice on means of escape in case of fire can be provided by SFE consultants at new building planning, building development as well as occupation stages.
SFE can provide templates and advice on Fire Policy and written fire safety arrangements that ensure that employees and others will be kept safe from fire.
SFE offers a wide range of training to its clients. Training can be provided in any of the three core areas of SFEs business as well as emergency incident response.
David is a qualified and experienced trainer who delivered training to senior fire officers at the UKs National Fire Service College in Morton-in-Marsh, Gloucestershire. During his three year secondment he was Section Head and Course designer and Director of the highly successful Hazardous Materials and Environmental Protection Course. This five week residential course provided the necessary skills and understanding to UK and international senior fire officers to allow then to command and manage the full range of hazardous materials incidents that might also threaten the environment.
