David and Debbie have a combined total experience of over 75 years in hair salons across London, Cheltenham, Guildford, Brighton and Fareham. In 1985 they established Charter Cutting Company in Emsworth, Hampshire, an easy decision based on the charm and beauty of the location. They have since been an integral part of the community with both a local and further-travelling clientele.

Founder of Charter Cutting Company, with over forty four years of experience, David manages, educates and cares for the whole salon team whilst maintaining his own loyal client base. He recently attended a business club in the L’Oreal building in London, culminating with an up close and personal session with Jamie Stevens of X Factor fame…you’re never too old to learn! David is a state registered senior hairdresser and an accredited master craftsman. David can be found working in the salon 3 days a week and continues to look after the business side of the salon. When he isn’t in Emsworth working, David can be found reading historical novels in his beautiful garden.
Debbie, Director and Co-Founder of Charter Cutting Company, has thirty-eight years of hairdressing experience to her name and ensures the salon upholds its high standards on a daily basis. She is the team’s technical expert, providing colouring, perming and conditioning treatments for clients whilst inspiring the team with her thorough approach. She enjoys her weekly aerobics class and is often training for her next sponsored walk as well as planning the salon charity days and supporting the Emsworth business community.
Our Salon Manager Jo has been in the industry in excess of thirty years, bringing a wealth of experience and an inexhaustible array of hairdressing skills to our team. She has a large and loyal following from twenty six years with Charter Cutting Company, which reflects her knowledge, ability and enjoyment in her chosen career. To stay at the forefront of her field, Jo has attended numerous advanced cutting, milk_shake® and colouring courses enabling her to provide excellent service to every client. On her lunch breaks, Jo can be found walking her pampered pooch Coco around Emsworth and enjoys cooking for her family in the evenings.
Danielle has completed ten years with Charter Cutting Company since her initial training and brightens up the salon with her friendly attitude, whilst succeeding as her skills are stretched by her growing client base. Continuously adding skills to her repertoire, Danielle recently attended an American Crew barbering course. Alongside her NVQ level 3, colouring courses and milk_shake® training. Danielle also studied creative cutting with Jamie Stevens and advanced colour with Alexander Turnball and recently a one to one cutting course with Christian Wiles. Danielle has been busy this year creating a beautiful garden at their new home and walking their dog Bertie.
Emily has been part of the team for eight years and has now been promoted to Senior Stylist, she has gained her level 3 NVQ and is trained to an exceptionally high standard. Emily is always keen to extend her skillset and recently attended the Artistry of Cutting course with Scott Green, she has also attended barbering and multiple milk_shake® and Matrix courses increasing her knowledge in styling and in-depth colouring. She has an enduring love for prom and wedding hair and excels with a creative flair making her popular with her clients and a passionate member of our team, she is about to attend ‘the world of hair up course’ with Shelley Pengilly. Emily loves to hit the gym after work and enjoys baking delicious treats for her friends, family and colleagues!
Jade has completed NVQ level 2 in hairdressing and, to enhance her skills for our gentlemen clients, has now completed NVQ level 2 in barbering. She has been with Charter Cutting Company for four years and with a bouncy and exuberant personality, her love of her chosen profession is truly infectious. Jade in her spare time is passionate about keeping fit, loves attending festivals and is always off shopping for that perfect outfit.
Olivia is in her second year at Charter Cutting Company studying NVQ level 2 in hairdressing at the Lee Stafford Academy in Chichester. She has attended courses this year with milk_shake® in product knowledge and colour. Olivia shows great attention to detail and is a bubbly and popular member of the team. Olivia is currently learning to drive and enjoys spending time with her family.
Megan is our newest member at Charter Cutting Company and we wish her luck in her chosen craft. She is currently studying NVQ level 2 in hairdressing at the Lee Stafford Academy at Chichester College and is already establishing a great understanding and love for salon life. Megan has a distinction in level 2 beauty and this is reflected in her passion for fashion and makeup. In her spare time Megan enjoys horse riding.
