We are a deliberately small team of architects who share the belief that bold contemporary design can be combined with sound sustainable principles to transform the way we live. We are passionate about creating outstanding architecture that is carefully tailored to your site and budget. We take the time to get to know you, working closely to develop solutions that reflect your individual values, personalities and aspirations. Working at all scales, on new, existing and historic buildings alike, we can cover every aspect of the process, from initial feasibility all the way through to site management. You can tailor the services we offer to meet your individual needs.
The CaSA team will be playing on Saturday 10th June (exact time to be confirmed in May). We’d love to see you there to cheer us on. Bring the kids, it’s a real family event.
There will be plenty of stalls selling food and drink, and of course we’ll be providing the entertainment! It’s also a fun way of raising money for worthy local causes. The event raised a staggering £41,424.58 in 2016 thanks to the generosity of Sponsors and partners.
We are thrilled that this year's
Ian was based in Edinburgh for 18 years, working on a wide range of types and sizes of projects before moving to Bath and forming CaSA Architects with Adam Dennes.
He has made residential architecture his specialty, driven by the satisfaction gained from working closely with private clients on their very personal and often life changing commissions. He believes strongly that everyone should benefit from great design.
The core architectural services we offer divide into four categories: Concept; Planning; Detailed Drawings; Contract Management. We are happy to collaborate with you at every stage of the process or during just a section of this process. Our flexible approach means you can tailor the service to suit your budget.
Making apparently simple choices such as detailing materials that improve with age and that sit well within their context are an integral part of finding a successful solution.
Choosing the right contractor is important. CaSA’s experienced architects can help you make the right choices when it comes to ‘going out to tender’.
Once the decision is made, ‘contract administration’ (sometimes referred to as a ‘site management service’) is a service that CaSA provides that offers some extra peace of mind and is widely regarded as money well spent.
We are experts in achieving consent for contemporary homes, even on sensitive sites, and find ways of using the budget to its maximum potential to get the very best results possible.
We fell in love with the site right from the start. The only thing separating us from the canal is a field of sheep. It’s idyllic. To live in such a well-designed contemporary home in such a location has been worth every ounce of effort. There is a sense of lightness to our house that you can’t help responding to; it draws you inside.
We are so grateful to CaSA... they never dismissed our ideas. We always felt in control and listened to, becoming a genuine part of the team. Our house has utterly changed our lives. It doesn't even matter what the weather is like any more, the space always feels amazing.
The buildings have helped to create a natural event space for festivals, allowing a flow of people between the two outdoor spaces. It creates a whole extra area to be enjoyed and used to full effect by the community here.
The attention to detail throughout is astonishing, making the house an absolute delight to live in. It feels a real privilege to have a home that is so tailored to us, which we’ve still been able to do on a very modest budget. CaSA were very good at knowing where to invest in quality and where to cut back, bringing skill, care and creativity to the entire process. I could be tempted to do it all over again!
minimise carbon emissions and local pollution
We are guided by best practice principles in the design of buildings to maximises the health and wellbeing of building occupants. We aim to enhance air quality (through natural ventilation and MHRV), lighting (natural daylighting, lighting design, glare avoidance), thermal comfort (solar gain, insulation), views and biophilia (orientation, form, landscaping), acoustics (insulation, separation, absorption), interior layout (legibility/density/sociability), look and feel (colour treatment, texture, pattern and ergonomics), and Active Design (pedestrian friendly environment and internal layout that promotes physical activity).
CaSA Architects has been commended for and won many nationally acclaimed awards. We have also been featured in many architecture and design publications. The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors RICS, Grand Designs Magazine, Homebuilding & Renovating and The Sunday Times are just of few from those who recognise the quality of our work. Key to success is collaborating with people who share our passion.
