Welcome to O J Neil Contracting, a modern, innovative company serving both the Renewable Energy and Utilitiy sectors within Agriculture along with a subsidiary Biomass company.
Founded in 2002 and based in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, the company originally started as an agricultural contracting firm specializing in spreading services for local farmers. Since its inception this part of the company has expanded to spread a wide range of products from lime to fertilisers though to organic recycled products. Other services followed suit to include forage harvesting for livestock farms and more recently, Anerobic digestion plants.
In 2004 the decision was taken to diversify into the equestrian markets. Being based near Newmarket it provided an ideal client base to expand into and has seen us build some of the most innovative training facilities in the area. We are proud to have some of the largest and most prestigious names in flat racing on our books and have strong links with suppliers of synthetic riding surfaces.
In 2008 a road reclamation division was started which saw us restoring and stabilising farm tracks and roads. Within the year we had secured contracts as far afield as Northumberland and Cheshire amongst others and this continued to expand over the next two years. In 2010 we where approached by another company who wished buy this side of the business and the road reclamation arm was subsequently sold.
In 2016 O J Neil Biomass was incorporated with the sole intention of supplying straw to the two fully operational straw fired biomass power stations in East Anglia. With a unique straw procurement strategy, O J Neil Biomass was able to quickly establish itself as sustainable provider of straw to fulfill our customers demands.
We continue to look at new services and markets that we feel will benefit both our customers and the business.
