Slam Design was started back in the early 2000s by Luke Haslam-Jones who came up with the Dog-end cloth holder. This was soon complemented by the Cloth-Cat and after hours of sitting in damp basements with his friend George Crane making them and then more time selling them, the company was born.
It wasn’t long before George Crane joined Slam full time and soon we were exhibiting at the NEC Spring Fair. At the show, we were lucky enough to meet up with Jim Cox of Luckies – a wholesale gift company which is now the stuff of legends. Jim took on our products giving us the boost and time we needed to concentrate on new products.
At the same time we hooked up with other distributors around the world, making friends with DCI in the USA, ISG in Australia, Tech Galerie in Germany and a whole host of other distributors. We streamlined our production and stared distributing worldwide.
Slam became a limited company in 2006 and in 2009 moved to offices in a quiet rural location in Lincolnshire, based in 3 acres of gardens. The perfect spot for creative design!
Soon after, George took over the company and started Dunk Trading Ltd. Dunk is the UK and ROW (the difficult bits to get to) distributor for the Slam brand replacing Luckies of London. Slam and Dunk operate out of the same (now larger) offices and warehouses.
