Quality-1st Roofing Services is a family owned and operated roofing business started as a sole trading business by Ted Kay and his wife Michelle back in 1983.
Ted had obtained his roofing training whilst working for a major national building contractor and due to the fact that the roofing trade had a low status in the public eye he saw the opportunity to form a roofing company that would provide an honest and professional service
In the beginning the business was run from home with Ted undertaking the roofing work with one or two staff, trained by himself. Michelle answered the phone between changing nappies, and worked on the company books in the evenings.
The high standards in the work undertaken, and customer service that they insisted on, stood them in good stead with their customers and the business developed steadily over the years.
Things are a little different these days; the business became limited under its current title and we currently employ on average twenty staff. Michelle still runs the administration side of things but now it is from our large offices/warehouse premises in Verwood.
Ted is (more or less !) retired now and his son Matthew, after working alongside his father for many years and qualifying with honours in all his City & Guilds/NVQ qualifications, now runs the business.
