ABOUT MELLOW YELLOW HYDRO LTD

People often ask how did Mellow Yellow Hydro get started. In fact it was quiet a long time ago when I set up a hydroponic business in my back garden. Believe it or not, over 35 years later some of our first customers still shop with us today and what changes they have seen!

At that time the business was called Nutriculture and we made tanks and trays for hydroponic cultivation. In the early 1990's we moved to Towngate Works in Mawdesley where we have remained ever since. With these spacious premises Nutriculture was able to expand rapidly and the shop became a factory outlet. Our greenhouse was opened in 1997 and quickly became a very special visitor attraction where we have grown record breaking plants and featured on television and in magazines.

Further expansion followed and Nutriculture outgrew the site so, in 2003, the factory was moved to much larger premises in Skelmersdale. That left me with some urgent decision making in respect of the shop. I decided the best way forward was a new name and a new format. Mellow Yellow Hydro was born and being able to operate independently from Nutriculture it quickly developed a much wider range of specialist hydroponic products. In 2007 the business became a stand alone limited company and recently all corporate ties with Nutriculture were broken but we still remain good friends.

We must be doing something right as despite increased local competition more and more customers make the journey to Mawdesley to see us. My intention for the future is to continue with the best we currently offer but always look for new ways to develop the shop and meet your needs.
