The nursing team offer free clinics to help with dietary advice, weight management, flea and worm prevention, or even to remove a tick from your pet. Additionally they are able to trim pets' claws for a small fee. Our nurses have the necessary experience to explain to owners how to administer medications safely and often help owners by demonstrating how to tablet a cat or even inject a diabetic pet. Come and speak to our nurses for good honest healthcare advice.
We use modern anaesthetic protocols and a trained nurse monitors each patient from admission through to recovery from surgery. Our sterile operating theatre is fully equipped and used daily for a range of surgical procedures including orthopaedic procedures such as cruciate surgery and fracture repair. We have considerable experience in performing some more advanced soft tissue as well as orthopaedic procedures as well as dedicated nurses and the necessary facilities to nurse your pet back to health.
Our hospital provides a comfortable and safe environment for recovery from surgical procedures as well as convalescence during illness. The kennel room is equipped with air-conditioning and memory foam mattresses for your pet's comfort. We use a range of specialised nursing equipment such as infusion pumps and oxygen supplementation for critically ill patients. We believe that it is best to avoid transporting an ill or injured pet to an out-of-hours centre, therefore we do have nurses staying on the premises when we have a patient staying over.
We have three veterinary surgeons that are OV (DEFRA Official Veterinarian) qualified. We are able to offer advice regarding the PETS scheme and prepare a pet passport. For those pets requiring export certification we are able to arrange for the relevant tests to be undertaken and for the paperwork to be completed. Additionally we aim to provide guidance regarding preventative healthcare for pets while they are abroad.
Inevitably this is a terribly sad and difficult time for pet owners. As a team, we aim to provide care and support throughout the process of euthanasia, both for the pet and for their owners. Some owners elect to bury their pets at home, but for those who would rather have their pet cremated we can arrange for this at Silvermere Haven, a registered pet crematorium. We can arrange for individual cremation if you would like to have your pet's ashes to keep or scatter.
We often do home visits for euthanasia purposes, allowing pets to pass away in a familiar home environment. For general medical purposes it is better to bring your pet to the surgery where support staff and equipment allows a more complete range of services, but we are happy to perform domiciliary visits where appropriate.
Our well-stocked dispensary ensures that our hospital patients can be treated without delay and allows our clients to collect prescriptions at the time of their appointment. We are also able to accept orders for repeat prescriptions on-line via our website.
We stock a range of quality pet accessories and our friendly team will help you select suitable items and ensure a correct fit. We also have a range of pet foods and chews. Our web shop gives you the opportunity to browse our on-line catalogue from the comfort of your home with free home delivery when you spend more than thirty pounds.
The practice had enlarged into the wing vacated by the doctors' surgery providing improved operating facilities, but it was not until 2006 that major refurbishment allowed the development of the wide range of diagnostic and surgical facilities that enable us to provide the high standard of veterinary care that has become expected of Priory Lodge.

Rabbit owners should take note that the new variant of Rabbit Haemorrhagic Disease has been confirmed at a neighbouring practice where four rabbits from the same household has died. The combined Myxomatosis and VHD vaccine given annually to rabbits unfortunately does not protect against this new strain of disease.
