The founder Edmund Galindo was told he had one year to live, a urinary diversion was performed in 1958. Ostomy products at that time were complicated, crude and ineffective. Edmund’s quest for help was born, keen of mind Edmund experimented on himself with new appliance designs, being able to return to an active life of business, golf and swimming. Doctors in Los Angeles were so impressed they urged him to manufacture and market so others may benefit. At first supplies were freely handed out but in order to continue helping a company had to be formed.

Nu-Hope Laboratories is a medium sized, family owned company which has been trading in the USA since the 1960’s. The company is based in Los Angeles, California and has specialised in Urostomy pouches and Hernia Support belts for many years. Penlan Medical was founded in 2004 and has been importing Nu-Hope products since 2005 and the range of products brought in will be expanding in the coming years.
