About William Hewitt Business Development
Having enjoyed successful careers, initially in retail and then in financial services, I set up a business in 1996 to help entrepreneurs develop the basic structures and methods necessary to enable them to grow their businesses and prosper. This led to dealing with businesses of all types and sizes, from start-ups to major PLCs.
What I learned through my experience was that regardless of the business entity, one of the keys to success is the way in which the people are treated within the organisation. Over time I have developed and used methods, techniques and structures that enable individuals to have clear direction and focus regardless of their position, maximising the use of their time and generating new clients and customers consistently.
In 2013 I conducted a survey of a sample of businesses in different sectors including retail, law, accountancy, creative and performing arts and construction. I discovered that, as the business arena has become more technology-dependent, some of the core personal relationship skills have been lost. This has led to dysfunctional working environments where departments which have a dependence on their interaction with each other if their organisation is to enjoy success, often struggle to interact in a positive and constructive way.
As a result of these findings, I then created a series of development programmes and workshops to re-introduce the core relationship skills to sit alongside the advances in technology, in order to enable individuals and companies to become more profitable in a difficult and challenging climate that has had a huge impact on both small and large businesses alike since 2008.
I now enjoy working with entrepreneurs and executives in a wide range of businesses and disciplines, who are applying the methods and techniques taught to great effect. I advocate that as individuals it is essential to keep a good work/life balance to be able to perform at the highest levels. I am blessed to be able to enjoy travel for pleasure and spend time with my large family who are all very close.
