We are a small team of people who do their utmost to give you the best. We try hard to ensure that you receive a product that is hand made, unique and profoundly different to others in the market place. Over the last 20 years Besmo and now Tilnar Art has revolutionised the perception of home accessories from Africa, or inspired by Africa, into one that can be mainstream without losing its place in today’s home.
When designing a product and eventually adding it to our collection we do our best to visualise it in the modern home. We never lose sight of the eventual consumer and the retailer. We travel thousands of miles every year to find you products that give you the edge and maintain our increasing number of artisans by providing them regular and sustainable trade.
All our products are hand-made and fairly traded. We check all our products for quality at source. Sizes, shapes and colours (of stone in particular) of our products may vary slightly because they are hand-made using natural materials.
Tilnar Art was formed in 2005 by Tom Hawes. Tom gave up a career as a successful London Solicitor to form Tilnar Art as he wanted to help many of the artists he had met on his various trips to Zimbabwe. Tilnar stands for '

Tilnar Art, the Fair Trade supplier, is delighted to be the new home for Azeti Interiors. These new ranges to Tilnar Art will be shown at Spring Fair 2018 at the NEC Birmingham, 4-8 February 2018 Hall 4 Stand F01, along with many other new products throughout the collections. Azeti's signature range is a collection of recycled food safe aluminium bowls, platters and dishes that come in various colours, designs and sizes. They are Fair Trade and hand made by Indian artisans working in cooperatives. The products are cast, then rough polished and enamelled before being beautifully finished with a smooth polish. Trashy Bags helping to save the Planet
We are very excited about our new range of recycled trashy bags from Ghana. They are made from recycled water sachets, which contain fresh drinking water and are then discarded on the streets in Ghana. We decided to add these fantastic bags to our ranges as we all here at Tilnar Art have a strong environmental ethos and are passionate about saving our planet, especially from the amount of plastic waste that goes into the sea and food chain. Tilnar Art seeks to minimise our impact on the environment. We do not air freight any of our products and transport all of our products by sea to reduce the carbon footprint of our products.
