1979 - Jeremy Hall Joins The Business
Amazingly and coincidentally, before his father set up this business, Jeremy had decided that he wanted to be a maker of ‘special’ furniture, so at 16 went off to Leeds College of Art for 2 years, attaining City & Guilds in cabinet making. Following that he worked for a couple of furniture makers in Yorkshire before gaining a place at West Dean College near Chichester in West Sussex to study Antique Furniture Restoration. Jeremy worked in Oxfordshire for a year, but ultimately he fulfilled his ambition to move back to the Lakes and work with his father. When in 1979, along with his wife Diana, he relocated to Kendal and joined the business.
With the success of the furniture business, Jeremy, having been made a partner in the firm, pushed to expand. The workshops were extended and then a new showroom, offices and upholstery workshop were built onto the existing buildings. An interior design studio was then created to offer a complete service.
Will Hall, grandson of Peter Hall, joins the business having completed his degree with honours in furniture and product design at Edinburgh College of Art.
Peter Hall’s granddaughter and Will’s sister Becca, was keen to be a part of the family business with its new venture. Having graduated with a degree in illustration, and set up her own illustration business, Becca also works as the retail buyer for Peter Hall & Son.
