My therapeutic approach is non judgemental and integrative which means that I utilise a variety of therapeutic approaches and philosophies in order to assist my clients to achieve their goals. I tend to be solution focused, which means that I look at solutions as opposed to problems in order to help my clients move forward. This is not to say that I do not look at the problems or issues that are causing concern, but rather than to focus on those, I believe that looking at the solutions rather than the problems makes the therapeutic experience more positive for the client. Rest assured, I only use approaches that have been proven to be effective. That proof is demonstrated in clinical and academic journals as well as through anecdotal evidence of over 27 years of clinical practice.

IT IS TIME TO STOP APOLOGISING FOR WHO WE ARE Journal of the National Council for Hypnotherapy Summer 2000
You want to be sure that the therapist you consult is experienced. I have been in continual practice since January 1989, making me one of the longest established and most experienced practitioners in Manchester and have been a trainer of hypnotherapists and hypno-psychotherapists since 1993.
You might wonder if therapy is for someone like you. I have helped clients from all walks of life to live better and healthier lives.
Also, be aware the more often than not, practitioners who claim that they have trained at a UK University in Hypnotherapy it simply means that the private school which trained them took rooms at places like UCL or King College London. My qualifications are indeed accredited and recognised by the Open University (Diploma in Hypno-Psychotherapy, National College) and Hypnotherapy Practitioner Diploma, NCFE) Bath Spa University (Advanced Diploma in Hypno-Psychotherapy, National College 90 Credits towards the MA in Counselling and Psychotherapy Practice) and my MA from Liverpool John Moores University was awarded in part due to my dissertation on the dynamics of Hypnotherapy Training. Always ask any potential practitioner where their qualifications came from and what accreditation it has.

4. As a society we are getting used to sites such as Tripadvisor, but the difference is that those reviews are independent. On a practitioner’s site, they are responsible for the content and would naturally only put up good reviews.
5. A good, well trained therapist will have a wide range of approaches that they use to match to each particular client’s needs. Therapy is not like buying a kettle, and one person’s experience is unlikely to match your own so reading other peoples’ experiences may be misleading rather than helpful.
