The idea for protective seat covers initially came from the water sports industry. We began producing seat covers in 1986 for sailors, windsurfers and surfers who wanted to drive home in their wetsuits without damaging their seats. The market quickly increased as people from other industries, such as builders, mechanics and dog owners, began to show an interest in also protecting their seats. This demand rapidly outgrew the in-house capacity of the original designer, who still leads the design team today, and the business began to expand into the wide range of seat covers we currently supply.
Our world class materials, suppliers and manufacturing facilities, coupled with our in-house design and pattern-making potential enable Town and Country Covers to offer the highest specification in all of our products.
Our seat covers are distributed throughout a vast network of automotive and agricultural dealers, as well as online sellers. This means that Town and Country Covers can be purchased throughout the UK as well as abroad.
Online Sellers
We are committed to ensuring that every customer finds the correct product for their vehicle. To this end, we have created a Seat Cover Finder that enables customers to simply and quickly locate the best cover for their vehicle.
Choice of fabric is important to us. Our covers are made from 600 denier Polyester with a waterproof Polyurethane coating (generally referred to as 600D/PU). Despite previously using nylon with a PVC backing, in 2006 we changed to the present 600D/PU combination when we expanded our business to Australia: we found the nylon/PVC combination to be extremely uncomfortable in hot environments as well as feeling very cold on chilly mornings. Furthermore, PVC is environmentally damaging on multiple levels and most responsible retailers have phased it out.
Our product range includes Tailored to Fit seat covers for many different light and heavy commercial vehicles and 4X4's as well as Universal Fit seat covers for most cars, vans, trucks and tractors.
The material used in the manufacture of our seat covers is high tenacity polyester with a polyurethane backing which is unique to our product range.
