David Bellis Consulting Surveyors was formed in 1972 when Mike Bellis, a former Estates Manager and Chartered Surveyor with over 20 years experience at the Coal Board, moved into independent practice. Mike used his wealth of experience in dealing with mining subsidence legislation and the settlement of claims made under that legislation at the Coal Board in order to provide support to individuals and companies requiring independent mining surveying expertise.
Over a period of time it became clear that there was a need for a simple mining report that could be used in property transactions in order to minimise the risk for purchasers of property in coal mining areas. In response to this need the practice began to produce coal mining search reports and this remains a main stay of the current David Bellis Consulting Surveyors business. Coal Mining Search Reports can now be ordered and/or delivered either online or in paper based formats via the CoalSearchPlus+ web site which was launched in 2005.
In 2005 Peter Peace joined David Bellis as Practice Manager. Peter is a Chartered Engineer and holds Masters Degrees in Engineering and Business Administration. Peter has 15 years experience in senior management positions in a variety of industries. His addition to the business further strengthens both David bellis Consulting Surveyors and the CoalSearchPlus+ brand.
All our reports carry indemnity insurance cover of £2M. We are members of the Council of Property Search Organisations (COPSO), the leading trade association for property search companies, and adhere to the COPSO codes of practice.
