This model is fitted with one of the technically most sophisticated, most dynamic and most responsive all-wheel drive systems in any production car, the BMW M xDrive. Even with a decidedly sporty driving style and taking the vehicle dynamics to the limit, the new BMW M5 remains effortlessly controllable, with BMW M xDrive taking driving pleasure and achievable speeds to a whole new level. The all-wheel drive system allows the high-performance saloon to race from 0-100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds. Even the BMW M Test drivers on the Núrburgring north loop were impressed. On some track sections – where previous vehicles were unable to achieve the same speeds – they even had to develop an entirely new set of braking points.
For the first time, the new BMW M5 comes to the starting grid with an 8-speed step-tronic automatic transmission and Drivelogic. Depending on the shift setting that has been selected, the gears are automatically engaged almost instantly or steering wheel paddle shifters allow the driver to change gears manually. Like all BMW M models, the new BMW M5 uses a fast-acting locking differential to split engine power efficiently between the two rear wheels. For the first time, carbon clutch discs are used to provide even more sensitive control of this power split.
With its combination of high revving ability (up to 7,200 rpm) and impressive power (441 kW/600 hp), the new BMW M Twinpower Turbo V8 is virtually unparalleled for an engine of this calibre. Specially matched to this powerplant, the exhaust gas routing gets the twin turbochargers to spool up quickly and efficiently, packing highly compressed intake air into all eight cylinders. Here the pressurised fuel-air mixture ignites to provide practically lag-free torque of up to 750 Newton Metres.
The redesigned interior of the BMW M5 is in equal parts functional, luxurious and sporty. The high-end specifications include a Bowers & Wilkens Surround sound system with illuminated speakers and M multifunctional seats (both of which are optional), as well as a redesigned gear selector lever with integrated buttons for the Drivelogic transmission settings and parking lock.

My neighbours had hired vehicles from LVS recently so on that basis I decided to hire a van to assist with the collection of Christmas Trees from around St Anne's for the Fylde Coast Dunes Project. I was worried about us damaging the inside of the vehicle as we placed trees in the back of the van, but Nigel was able to provide us with a vehicle that they rent our purely for removal of garden rubbish etc. That meant that although we still had a 'duty of care' it relieved the pressure quite a bit. The hire price was excellent as well - I cannot praise LVS enough for their exemplary service to us and would have no problem is coming to them again for a vehicle rental.Keep up the good work!
