We are proud to be part of British Bite Mark and DAMAS.
National Smile Month is the UK’s largest oral health campaign, which kicked off on 16th May until 16th June 2016; to help promote the campaign, we are running a special offer for teeth whitening, a dental check-up, plus clean and polish.
The National Smile Month campaign was established in 1976. Now into its 40th year, the campaign has helped to change the oral health landscape of the UK. National Smile Month is a great opportunity for patients to learn a little more about oral health and why it’s so important for our overall well-being.
Dental hygienists ensure that you are looking after your teeth properly, they monitor plaque levels and look out for the onset of gum disease. The hygienist will help you to steps to avoid serious dental problems in the future.
At first, these cavities won’t cause pain, however as the cavity gets worse it will reach the dentine which is underneath the enamel and makes up the bulk of your tooth. Dentine is sensitive to pain therefore causing tooth sensitivity to hot and cold. Saliva helps to wash away the acid on your teeth to prevent this happening, however when consuming sugary food and drinks between meals , the saliva doesn’t have enough time to remineralise your teeth and prevent cavities occurring. A change in diet which includes limited sugar really can help save your teeth from cavities, fillings and extractions.
Dental hygienists may recommend that you use a different tooth brush, such as an electric one with a smaller head. Or they may recommend that you use a new toothpaste with extra fluoride if you need it. There is an array of different oral hygiene products on the market, your hygienist should educate you on the best products to use for your individual needs so that you can keep your teeth healthy.
