The approach of WSA Community Consultants (WSA) is encapsulated in the extract above. Our work is based on the following values:
WSA Community Consultants is committed to partnership working with colleagues to ensure the best team is involved in delivering on all projects. WSA Community Consultants has a wide range of partners and associates to ensure this is the case. Some of the core team members are introduced below:
Wendy Sugarman – Company Director
Wendy is Director of WSA Community Consultants and has been established in business for 14 years with a background in youth and community work prior to that. She has worked as a youth and community worker with young people and adults on a range of projects and initiatives. She has proven experience in working alongside communities securing representative community involvement and participation. Wendy has worked both in the Voluntary and Statutory sectors. She managed a London wide Young Women’s Unit for five years focussing primarily on supporting work with girls and young women in a youth work setting across London.
Gillian Granville Associates is a national evaluation company based in London that carries out evaluation activities of complex social programmes. We specialise in a Theory of Change Evaluation methodology to understand what works, for which groups of people and in what particular circumstances. Most importantly we explore why certain activities produce particular outcomes and what drives those changes. As a company, we are committed to developing a culture of learning within organisations and to build the capacity and capability of front line and senior staff to self-evaluate their work. We do this through using practical tools and facilitating action learning approaches.
Vicky has recently finished her sociology PhD. This has brought a passion for grass roots activities as well as a desire to engage with these in a more practical way. With a background in qualitative research Vicky is enthusiastic about visual and participatory methods allowing communities to explore and represent their own experience. Vicky has experience in the voluntary sector helping to organise and evaluate networks of urban growers in her local Borough of Southwark as well as undertaking voluntary roles within the heritage sector.
WSA Community Consultants has established associate relationships to support good practice and sharing across networks.
WSA Community Consultants is a long term associate of CDF and has worked with numerous projects as a CDF associate. These include a healthy eating community café in Barnet, a strategic project across the East Midlands around transition to Healthwatch and grant assessment and support work.
Wendy Sugarman, Company Director, is a Big Local Rep working to offer support to three Big Local areas currently. She has previously supported a further two areas totalling five. Wendy has supported areas in travelling through all areas of the Big Local pathway and offered facilitation, support, challenge, advice and guidance to support Big Local outcomes. Wendy regularly contributes to shared learning between Big Local Reps.
WSA Community Consultants and specifically Wendy Sugarman, Company Direcor, works with the People’s Health Trust as part of the wider team of assessors. WSA Community Consultants has also worked for the UK Community Foundations commissioned by People’s Health Trust to deliver community development, advice and support to groups applying for funding through the Active Communities Programme in three London Local Society Areas (15 boroughs).
