After 25+ years on the corporate IT ladder, and resulting experience, John Russell founded Totembird in March 2002. Somewhat disillusioned with corporate life and politics Totembird was a chance to leave that behind and focus on the important aim of getting things done and improving the effectiveness of a business.
To that end the aim then and now is to provide affordable high quality IT solutions to business large and small delivered with a straightforward approach and an approachable and open manner. We provide a highly personalised service, we adapt and adjust to suit the circumstances and the individuals involved. Our customers have a known point of contact and we are always available to listen and advise.
Totembird has project management, business analysis, application design and application development and testing skills. We don’t host applications ourselves but work with a large provider of cloud based servers, so we can ensure high levels of availability and very quick lead times, typically many times quicker and cheaper than most corporations are used to!
We don’t have a fixed approach to the way we work, we tend towards an “agile” style (if you not familiar with this term it basically allows for a development approach comprised of a number of iterations rather than traditional more formal approach) but we are not a “one size fits all” company.

We are industry and software agnostic as many IT skills, technologies and knowledge are largely generic. Having said that we do have considerable experience in the Travel and Tourism sector. In addition, we can add procurement contracting, Finance (SAP & Sage), property development sales and inventory management, B2C e-commerce as well as the public sector. Totembird is based in South Lincolnshire with easy access to the East Midlands, East Anglia, London and further afield. All the staff are UK based and able to be on site, if required, or work remotely. We are dedicated to providing a highly individual and personalised service using whatever logistical arrangement works best for you, the customer.
