We are on the panel of PRS for Music and BASCA (British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors) approved industry lawyers. Our team regularly speak on music law matters at events such as Indie Week (Europe) and for organisations inlcuding Music Industry Learning - a non-profit organisation based in MediaCityUK that delivers music & media related courses to the ‘talent’ side of the business. We are proud to support emerging talent, but our experience doesn’t stop there. Our clients regularly achieve success in the Official Charts, and we represent nominees in awards ranging from the Mercury Prize to the MOBOs to the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards. We also act for BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artists and, dare we say it, finalists in talent shows such as X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent!
Mark is the founder and managing director of Sound Counsel. He is a leading entertainment, technology and media lawyer, and qualified as a solicitor in September 1996.
Mark graduated with a 2.1 in law from the University of Sheffield and undertook the Legal Practice Course at Nottingham Law School where he obtained a Commendation. He also holds an LLM Information Technology and Telecommunications Law from the Glasgow Graduate School of Law and an MBA from Manchester Business School where he specialised in e-commerce and media.
