Universal Waterlife was established in 1981 at Pilkington garden Centre on Mill Lane in Widnes, initially selling Goldfish from outdoor vats. We expanded quickly and started to sell other live fish as well as dry goods. Our pets, exotic pets departments were added in 1990 and 1994 respectively, giving us a fully comprehensive range of products and services.
As a company we continued to grow and diversify and had to move to larger premises, at our present location in White Moss Nursery, in 2002. Our retail outlet employs six staff, with a combined experience of over 60 years in care, welfare and advice within the industry. We currently import in excess of 1,000,000 fish annually and have established ourselves as one of the top independent suppliers in the country. Your main tropical fish department utilises state-of-the-art commercial filtration systems, including wet and dry spinning bio-gas chambers, consisting 8 x 55w ultra-violet units and sand fluidized beds, optimising water control and quality. Behind the scenes, you have an extensive quarantine and medical facility, where your many and often rare species are treated and monitored around the clock. Only when we are completely satisfied they are in perfect condition will we add them to your viewing aquariums, for you to add to your collection. You are also welcome to choose from a vast range of marine fish and invertebrates.
